In my latest artistic endeavor, I delved into a fascination that had been brewing since the previous semester: the exploration of the Great Icosahedron shape. Its resemblance to a star intrigued me deeply, leading to the creation of a sculpture that challenged my spatial perception. Aptly named "Zvezda," meaning "star" in Russian, I drew inspiration from Slavic depictions of celestial bodies in churches.
This project marked a significant departure in my artistic journey, as it required meticulous attention to precise angles and calculations, unlike any previous endeavor in my laser class. With a time investment exceeding 100 hours, hundreds of triangles, the creation of "Zvezda" evolved into a monumental undertaking, necessitating the collaboration of additional hands and the development of an assembly line, with invaluable assistance from my parents.
Exploring a new method of artistry, provided invaluable insights into translating two-dimensional concepts into three-dimensional forms. Moreover, using the airbrush for the first time added a new dimension to my skill set. From assembly to execution, "Zvezda" posed one of the most challenging yet rewarding artistic endeavors I have undertaken thus far.
I chose the star imagery as it relates to death and life as well as dreams. My bunny died and that was hard for me, ever since then my art relates to these concepts.
